Suffolk Family Gives Back to Local Fire Station

During the season of giving, a Suffolk family decided to give back to their local firefighters.

For all of his birthdays Ishaan Bhende, now 4 years old, has given to others in lieu of gifts for himself. This year, after his 7-year-old brother Vedant attended the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Life summer program he wanted to say thanks, so on December 14 their mom took them both to the fire station with gifts in hand.

They brought gift cards for the firefighters and smoke detectors for the staff to hand out to the community during outreach efforts.

The generosity made their day. “In the Fire Department and the Police as well, we see so many bad things. Through the years of doing this job, you have an opportunity to see so many good things as well. This is definitely one of those good things. This young man did this with his birthday money to look out for the Firefighters and just show his appreciation,” said Lieutenant Jeremy Gould.

Ishaan and Vedant were given a tour of the facility and got to sit in a fire truck during their visit.
