Chesapeake Bay Wine Classic

Sip on an amazing selection of world class wines, savor delicious cuisine from some of the area’s best restaurants and support local non-profits at the social event of the season.  Whether you are an oenophile with your own coveted wine collection or a wine neophyte,  The Chesapeake Bay Wine Classic Foundation’s (CBWCF) 25th Anniversary Grand Auction is sure to please every palate.

CBWFC founders Bob and Eleanor Stanton have hosted the Grand Auction at their home along the picturesque Bayville Golf Course on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach for the past 25 years. What started out as a small party to raise money for local charities has grown into one of the largest and most successful wine auctions on the East Coast, raising more than $5.5 million for local non-profits.

The 25th Anniversary celebration will be held on Saturday November 7 at the Stanton’s home. The reception begins at 12pm.

The Grand Auction features a live auction, silent auction and collector’s corner filled with exquisite, rare and large format bottles. Guests can also bid on exotic vacations, luxury merchandise and lifestyle packages.

The main mission of the CBWCF is to “help provide an opportunity for underpriviliged youth in our community to obtain higher education and skills needed to secure a better life for themselves and their families.”  ACCESS College Foundation is the primary beneficiary of the proceeds.

“I’m proud of the accomplishments that the Chesapeake Bay Wine Classic Foundation (CBWCF) has achieved over the past 25 years,” said Jennie Capps, executive director of CBWCF. “The foundation has grown from humble beginnings into a fixture in the community. I can only hope the next 25 years will be as rewarding, and we continue to help more and more students on the road to success.”

Many other local non-profits including An Achievable Dream Academy, Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP), Chrysler Museum of Art, Equi-Kids, EVMS, Horizon Hampton Roads, United Jewish Foundation and Virginia Beach CASA  also benefit from the funds raised through the Foundation’s events.
