Blue Ridge Outdoors is holding a contest for the “Top Adventure Town” of 2018 and Chesapeake is vying for the prize.
Blue Ridge Outdoors says adventure towns are places that are, “mountain biking meccas, whitewater oases, climbing paradises and hiking dream destinations.” The contest has titles in three different categories: small, medium and large town contenders.
Chesapeake is nominated in the Large Town Contenders category and is currently in the third round of voting. The must-do activities that are listed for the area are exploring the Great Dismal Swamp, kayaking lake Drummond and camping at Northwest River Park on the Wildlife Trail.
Chesapeake and Roanoke, Va. are currently fighting for first and third round voting ends at noon on Monday, July 30.
If our local city gets enough votes, then Chesapeake will move on to round four that will begin at 5 p.m. Monday evening.
