Hampton Roads is all about some funky family fun this weekend!

Head down to the oceanfront and you’ll find the State Farm FunkFest– nonstop great music that everyone is sure to love.

If beer is your thing, there are beer fests in both Virginia Beach and Chesapeake. Just pick your city!

And as always, there are a ton of cheap and free events for you and your kids.

Norfolk

11:00 a.m.-noon/Friday Family Fun/Chrysler Museum of Art
Visit on Fridays this summer for an hour of fun at the Museum. The activities, a tour or craft, vary each week, but always focus on our exhibition The Artist’s Garden. Mark your calendars and come to the Museum ready to create and learn with your kids! FREE

5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m./GSA Jazz Band Performs at MacArthur Center
The Governor’s School for the Arts Jazz Band will be performing in the Center every Friday from 5-7pm beginning April 24th and continuing through August 28th. FREE

Chesapeake

2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m./Tap! Tap! Beer Fest/Greenbrier Farms
Chesapeake, Virginia’s First Beer Festival, located at Greenbrier Farms August 29th 2pm-7pm. Unlimited free samples of over 20 beers. Food available for sale from your favorite local food trucks. Entertainment by Jesse Chong and Seth Stainback & Roosterfoot.

8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m./Full Moon Kayak Tour/Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve
Kayak around Lake Ballard after the sun goes down.  Explore the lake with a guide by the light of a full moon.  Afterwards, enjoy snacks around a fire.  Space is limited. Registration is $35 for non-members; $20 for HCWF members.

Virginia Beach

1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m./Coastal Craft Beer Festival/Neptune Park
This inaugural event will feature local Virginia beers and cask ales, as well national and regional craft beers. Over fifty beers from twenty-three breweries will be featured. The festival also includes live music Jacob Vanko Band (1pm – 3pm) The Whiskey Rebellion (3:30pm – 6 pm) and a selection of the region’s finest food trucks.
