It’s a long, 4th of July weekend! That means extra time to get in as much fun as possible.

Thursday-Sunday | Heathers the Musical | Generic Theater
HEATHERS THE MUSICAL is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized ass… but J.D. has another plan for that bullet.

Friday-Sunday | Sandstock: A Tribute to Rock & Roll | Oceanfront
Sandstock – A Tribute to Rock & Roll, is a beach-inspired variation on “Woodstock.” National and regional tribute artists who cover performers from The Who to Van Halen to Led Zeppelin will crank out hit after hit on two beach stages at the Virginia Beach oceanfront!
All Day | Storytelling in the Park | Bluebird Gap Farm
Comedy magic acts, hip-hop storytelling and pirates are sure to make this series a Friday morning staple for families. Stay and enjoy the park and farm animals.
6 p.m. | Fridays at the Fountain | City Center at Oyster Point
Join us every Friday for live music, delicious food and lots of fun at the Fountain! Kick off your weekend
1 p.m. | Storytime at the Lighthouse | Cape Henry Lighthouse
Starting March 25th, every Friday will be story time at the Cape Henry Lighthouse. Join us in the picnic area while we explore the swashbuckling seas and the deepest parts of the ocean. The stories featured in Cape Henry Lighthouse Story Time include The Whale by Cynthia Rylant, The Eagle by Cynthia Rylant, The Turtle by Cynthia Rylant and How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long and David Shannon.
5 p.m. | First Fridays | Downtown Norfolk
In its fourth season, each First Fridays event runs from 5 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and features music, food and merchandise vendors and a beer and wine garden all in an authentic downtown setting.
5 p.m. | First Friday Concert Series Featuring Sharkophagus | Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center
Sharkophagus killed it at the Courtyard last year and they are coming back to do it again. Great mix of tunes, great grooves and great solos. Celebrate the arts with exhibit opening receptions and live music performances, with styles ranging from jazz to blues, rock-n-roll, to independent singer-songwriters.
6 p.m. | Block Party with Bob Ross Paint Night and the Deloreans | Downtown Hampton
For the past 22 years, thousands of residents from all over Hampton Roads have gathered together in Downtown Hampton for music, food, and community during the annual Downtown Hampton Block Party Series. This year’s Block Party is set to be bigger and better than ever before! Week after week, all summer long, Block Party goers will be treated to a variety of local and national musical acts spanning all genres, as well as our always quirky signature events such as “The Rolling of the Bulls”, and a few special surprises. Make sure you stop by each week to see what the Block Party will think of next!

Brackish Water Jamboree presents Norfolk Folk Festival. Hampton Roads’ First Roots Music Festival.
10 a.m. | The Rhythm Project: Steel Pan Drum Performance | Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center
Founded in 1996, The Rhythm Project offered Portsmouth youth the opportunity to play and tour in a steel pan drum ensemble through dedication and discipline. Associate Director Paul Munzenrider of the Virginia Arts Festival leads the group who recently performed for the NPR program From The Top, and has toured George Mason University and New Bern, NC.
7 p.m. | Daddy Day Care | The Pavilion at City Park
