Even if your favorite team is not playing in the big game this weekend, you still have something to cheer (or bark) about.

Two dogs and two puppies from local SPCAs are participating in Animal Planet’s Dog Bowl II and Puppy Bowl XV, respectively.

The Norfolk SPCA has put their best paws forward to play in the second annual Dog Bowl, airing Saturday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m.

Cheer on Corrine, a 5-year-old Fox Hound, and Rue, a 10-year-old Basset Hound, as they compete on “Team Goldies” against “Team Oldies.” You can celebrate the hound stars during the “Dog-bowling” watch party at Smartmouth Beer in Norfolk from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

After you’re done rooting for the big dogs, you can watch puppies from the Virginia Beach SPCA in the Puppy Bowl  on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m.

19-week-old Ace and 20-week-old Scooter, both mixes of Chihuahua and Cocker Spaniel, will be on “Team Fluff” to compete against “Team Ruff.” Join the “Tail-Gate” party at Smartmouth Pilot House in Virginia Beach starting at 2 p.m. to watch it all go down.

At both viewing events, portions of the proceeds with go to the respective SPCAs and both events are free to attend.
