If there’s one thing we need more of, it’s access to our beautiful, Virginia waters. The City of Norfolk is making that happen with a new boat launch at Lake Whitehurst.
Norfolk Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander, Norfolk Councilmen Tommy Smigiel and other guests will cut the ribbon at the boat launch on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, there will be a remote-controlled boat race, led by SailBOT.
The launch is located at the intersection of Heutte Drive and Shore Drive. It will be open daily from sunrise to sunset.
Lake Whitehurst is one of Norfolk’s 11 fresh water reservoirs.
Just like with any body of water, boaters and fishers are required to follow regulations outlined by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
Permits are required for all types of water crafts in Norfolk’s reservoirs.
