Police in Newport News Treated to Christmas Meals

The mother of a Newport News police officer gave back to officers on duty this holiday season. Phyllis Mather is the mother of first-year officer David Mather, who graduated from the academy last November.

It’s the first Christmas he’s been away from his family, so Phyllis brought Christmas to him and other cops at the Central Precinct.

19 volunteers with the “Concerned Citizens Alliance” served up a full course meal for lunch and dinner. More than 40 police officers in the precinct away from home and in their patrol cars.

Area restaurants donated food and deserts to make this all happen. Couture Bakery on Warwick Boulevard donated dozens of cupcakes.
