Safety Town has had a hand in protecting Portsmouth kids for nearly four decades. After all that time, it needed a little upgrade.
Safety Town is a joint venture of the city, its schools, police, sheriff and fire departments and it teaches pedestrian, bicycle, bus and train safety in a fun and controlled environment. Sheriff Bill Watson explains Safety Town’s overall mission in a single statement: “There’s no telling how many children’s lives this place has saved.”
On Saturday, Community Church mobilized a team of volunteers to paint, restore, landscape, and repair the miniature town. Pastor Michael, the senior pastor at Community Church explains, “We’re excited that this Safety Town revitalization project will impact so many children’s lives.”
