Splash Pads in Hampton Roads

Kids can entertain themselves for hours running through a fountain, and splash pads are a great way to have a fun, inexpensive afternoon!

Here’s a list of the splash pads, fountains, and water features around the Hampton Roads area.


The Peninsula Town Center has Pop Fountains. They are located in the Town Square.  Children under 12 are welcome.

Newport News

Doris Miller Community Center Pool includes a 9,594.5 square foot pool area and 3,333 square foot spray play area. Open to Newport News residents only.

Norfolk Botanical Garden’s WOW Children’s Garden has fountains, bubblers, foggers and jet sprays. Fountains are seasonal.  Periodic maintenance may cause the WOW fountains to be closed. Call 441-5830 for fountain updates.

Fountains run from April 1 – October 1 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. (April 1 – October 15)

Norview Community Center has a Water Splash Pad free and open for public use.

Mid-June-Labor Day: Daily from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Labor Day-September 30: Sat-Sun 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Shoop Park is a 5.49 acre park is free and open for public use. The seasonal water feature is in service mid-June to mid-August.

Town Point Park is eight acres of peaceful outdoor spaces, nestled on the riverbanks of the Elizabeth River and located in the heart of the business district in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia. It features TowneBank Fountain: a beautiful interactive fountain with daily performances of 28 water jets shooting water up to 12 ft into the air and enhancing its nighttime performances with illumination.

Virginia Zoo features a zero-depth water feature. Eight fountains jet water up to cool you off on a hot day. In the center, a 20,000-pound granite globe floats on a column of water.

Portsmouth Splash Park is a newly developed fifteen apparatus interactive aquatics play area for all citizens of Portsmouth. Personal chairs, glass containers, food and drinks (bottled water excluded) are not permitted. Large groups are encouraged to call ahead due to limited capacity.

Virginia Beach

Williams Farm Recreation Center has a Sprayground! From mid- May through September, the sprayground will be open during days the temperature is 75 degrees or higher.

Saturday 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Sunday 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
$6 a day for kids, $8 for adults
