The 91st Annual Hampton Cup Regatta took place at Fort Monroe this weekend. The race is one of the oldest continuously running hydroplane boat races in the country.
The event attracts hundreds from all over the country and the world to either participate or spectate. The event started in 1926 when a group of Hampton Yacht Club members decided to have a race to see who had the best navigation skills and which of their boats was the fastest.
The event also included a car show. The boats are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and can top speeds around 200 miles per hour.
