These Two Cities in Hampton Roads Love Their Dog Parks

The cities of Norfolk and Chesapeake have been recognized for having an abundance of dog parks in comparison to other cities across the country.

In an annual city parks survey, the Trust for Public Land’s Center for City Park Excellence says Norfolk ranked at number four in the nation for having a total of 12 dog parks in the city. This came out to 4.8 dog parks per 100,000 residents.

Chesapeake came in at number 19 in the nation with five dog parks, a total of 2.1 dog parks per 100,000 residents.

The survey says dog parks, also known as “off-leash dog areas,” are among the fastest growing park amenities in the combined parks systems of the 100 largest U.S. cities.

Norfolk and Chesapeake have shown their love for dogs, so make sure to get out there today and take your pooch for a run in your local dog park!
