Va. Beach now has apps for service requests, city news

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Beach city officials have released two free apps that launch a mobile version of the city website and allow citizens to submit service requests for potholes and traffic light problems.

VB Connect and VB Works are available in the Apple Store and on Google Play. VB Connect is a portal app that provides access to city news, photos, hot topics, job openings and contact information. There’s an option as well to search for parks based on what’s available there like playgrounds or picnic shelters. Within the app, there’s also the city’s public library apps for free digital songs or access to e-books.

VB Works, which is powered by SeeClick Fix, lets citizens submit repairs needed in Virginia Beach. People can locate potholes and traffic light problems on  a map, and when it recognizes your location, the app will show you where others have submitted requests. Once it has been reported, city employees and anyone else who reported the same issue will receive an alert. Employees will be able to update the request so anyone following the repair will get notifications and provide feedback.
