Virginia Beach high school students serve meals on Giving Tuesday

High school students in Virginia Beach were trying to do their part for Giving Tuesday.

Operation Smile student volunteers from First Colonial High School (FCHS) helped prepare and serve meals at the Judeo Christian Outreach Center.

All of the students taking part in the Giving Tuesday event have gone on international medical missions with Operation Smile. Students said they were inspired by their trips to give back here in Hampton Roads.

“Because of my medical mission to China with Operation Smile, my entire outlook on life has changed,” said Chin Moss, a senior at FCHS. “I no longer take things for granted. I feel empowered to change the world and it starts right here at home.”

“I recently went on a medical mission to Paraguay with Operation Smile. I learned about how others live and the less fortunate. It impacted me to the point where I want to do more in my community. I want to give back and help others. Giving Tuesday is a perfect opportunity to do just that,” said Tara Midgett, a senior at FCHS.
