VIDEO: Kids Find Baby Turtles at Brock Environmental Center

Nothing is cuter than the dozens of baby diamondback terrapins that were found by students at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation‘s Brock Environmental Center on Wednesday.

According to a post on the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Facebook, the students found the turtles and then carefully released them at the shoreline.

The foundation says that baby terrapins are smaller than matchbox cars, but very strong. This species is the only kind of turtle that has adapted to tidal creeks and wetlands in the U.S.

The Brock Environmental Center location is one of the remaining nesting habitats in Virginia Beach that is suitable for these turtles, according to the foundation’s Facebook post.
