Weekend Events Cancelled or Postponed Due to Weather

If you have checked out the weather forecast here lately, then you’ve seen that the Hampton Roads area could be in for quite a bit of snow this weekend. With the white stuff coming down throughout the area, organizations have started cancelling or postponing events scheduled for this weekend.

This list is certainly ongoing and if you know of a cancelled or postponed event, please let us know by emailing info@hrscene.com.

St. Thomas Episcopal has cancelled their 8 a.m. service on Sunday, January 24, as well as Sunday school and adult forum.


The 8th Annual MyTime Women’s Show at the Hampton Roads Convention Center has been postponed until Saturday, April 16th.

The SAT scheduled for Saturday at Hampton High School and Bethel High School has been rescheduled to February 20.

Hampton’s Public Works Department suspended trash collection Friday afternoon because of the weather and poor road conditions. Collections are expected to resume Saturday morning.

Newport News

The Virginia Living Museum is closing at noon today.

The City of Newport News parks and recreation facilities are CLOSED, also Endview Plantation and Lee Hall Mansion are now CLOSED for Friday, January 22.

All Newport News libraries are now CLOSED for Friday, January 22.

The Lamb of God Concert originally scheduled for Friday at The ODU Ted Constant Center has been moved to The NorVa. All tickets purchased for this event will be honored and additional tickets will be available atarting at 5PM at FM Restaurant.

The Federation of Christian Cheerleaders competition scheduled for Saturday at the Norfolk Christian Academy has been POSTPONED to Saturday, February 13.

All City of Norfolk libraries and rec centers are closed Friday, January 22.

All Norfolk State University activities and events are SUSPENDED until Saturday, January 23.

The Norfolk Botanical Garden is now CLOSED. Please visit their website for information about reopening.

The Chrysler Museum is CLOSED for Friday, January 22.


Churchland Baptist Church has cancelled its service and Sunday School for Sunday, 24 Jan.

A Portsmouth Police community forum at I.C. Norcom High School has been POSTPONED to January 30 at 1 p.m. For more information call (757) 393-8626.


The Volunteer Planting Project at Sleepy Hole Park, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23 has been cancelled. The project has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 30th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Whaleyville Community Center, East Suffolk Rec Center and the Suffolk Art Gallery are closed Friday and Saturday. Also all Suffolk Library locations are closed Friday. Hours for Saturday are still to be determined.

Virginia Beach

The Old Coast Guard Station is closed Friday and Saturday.

The Sandler Center’s performance of Into The Woods has been rescheduled for Sunday, January 24.

VB History Museums closed due to icy conditions. They will reopen Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.


The Williamsburg Symphonia has postponed its Cabaret & Cocktails concert scheduled for 8 p.m. Sat. evening. The concert will be rescheduled, and a new date will be announced.

Kimball Theater- Due to the threat of severe weather for Friday night, the promoter has decided to cancel Happy Days! A 1950’s Rock n Roll Celebration. They hope to reschedule the show in the future. We will contact those who had already purchased tickets to process refunds.

Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center are closed Friday.

The Quarterpath Recreation Center and Water Mill Park in Williamsburg are closed Friday and Saturday.

Colonial National Historical Park including the Jamestown Glasshouse is closed Friday January, 22 visit their website to get information about when they will reopen.

All Williamsburg Regional Library locations will be closing at 2 pm on Friday January, 22. The Celebration of Acoustic Music concert scheduled for this evening has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date. For information on library closings, please call 757.259.4989.

The Muscarelle Museum of Art at William & Mary is CLOSED for Friday, January 22.

The Williamsburg Premium Outlets are CLOSED for Friday, January 22. At this time, shoppers are advised to visit the center’s website for further updates and store openings.

Colonial Williamsburg is CLOSED for Friday, January 22, but the Williamsburg Lodge remains open.

The Alewerks Brewing Company taproom is CLOSED for Friday, January 22, 2016. Stay tuned to the brewery’s website for information regrading hours for the rest of the weekend.

The U.S. Forest Service has closed some areas on the National Forests in North Carolina through Monday.
