What’s Happening: 25th Annual American Music Festival

If you plan on soaking up some sun at the beach this weekend, why not do it while watching live music performances from classic bands?

Head out to the Oceanfront for the Chartway Federal Credit Union 25th Annual American Music Festival, presented by Cruzan Rum.

There will be four major headliners on the Oceanfront 5th Street Main Stage on Aug. 31, Sept. 1 and 2: ZZ Top, Goo Goo Dolls, Ziggy Marley and SOJA.

The bands will be celebrating the festival’s silver anniversary. Two of the most popular performances from past years of the festival included  ZZ Top, who performed on the 5th Street Stage in 2011, and Goo Goo Dolls, who headlined in 2003.

This year will feature a newly-constructed 5th Street stage for the headliners! According to a press release, the new stage is much larger than previous years. While the headliners will be at 5th Street, there will also be free performances all weekend long at the 17th Street DQ Grill & Chill Park Stage , the 24th Street Park Stage and the 31st Street Park Stage.

Symone On The Scene and The Hampton Roads Show’s Chris Reckling will be there Friday to welcome the headliners Ziggy Marley and SOJA to the crowd at the 5th Street Stage.

Advanced tickets are completely sold out, but there may be some single-day or three-day general admission tickets available on site. The full schedule of performances is listed below.
