A unique festival is making it’s way to Virginia Beach for the first time.
The Water Lantern Festival is a nationwide festival filled with happiness, hope and healing. You can take part in the event on Saturday, August 4 at Mount Trashmore park from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Here’s how it works: You purchase a lantern and design it however you want. It could be a drawing, inspirational quote or a message to a loved one. Then you release it onto the water with thousands of other lanterns.
Nick Anoia, President of Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation, says the event is worth coming to even if it just to see all of the lanterns floating across the lake.
There will be food trucks, live music and games at the park during the event as well. The funds raised will go towards Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation.
