How about a little wine, fishing and fellowship to benefit a great cause on a gorgeous summer day? If that sounds good to you, check out the 13th Annual Wine, Women and Fishing (WWF) event next weekend at the Southside Marina at Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach. This ladies-only charity billfish tournament has raised nearly $400,000 for breast cancer research at the Eastern Virginia School of Medicine (EVMS).
Whether you are an experienced angler or just starting out, you can participate in this event. Registration is open through next Saturday August 15.
If fishing isn’t your thing, that’s ok! Head out to the Southside Marina for a great night on the water at the dock party after the tournament for some fabulous wine, delicious BBQ by Pitmaster Patrick Martin and revel in the the rockin’ tunes of local favorite Guava Jam. Tinto’s Wine and Cheese Shop, Savor the Olive, Aratas Wine and Auburn James Winery will be serving us some delicious offerings.
Associated Distributors is also hosting a series of wine seminars and bourbon tastings at the dock party. Tickets are $65 in advance and $75 at the door. All proceeds benefit breast cancer research at EVMS.
The WWF is just one of the amazing events put on each year by the Cheseapeake Bay Wine Classic. The Foundation’s largest annual event is coming up on November 7 at Eleanor and Bob Stanton’s home overlooking the Lynnhaven River and Bayville Golf Club in Virginia Beach. The 25th annual Grand Auction promises to be the best one yet! The Grand Auction raised $1.3 million last year.
