The holidays are fast approaching! If you are not, you’ll have the chance to get into the holiday spirit with Norfolk’s 32nd Annual Grand Illumination Parade, also with Hampton’s 18th Annual Coliseum Central Holiday Parade.

Friday – Sunday | 20th Annual Mayflower Marathon Food Drive | Various Locations
Mayflower Marathon is a 57 ½ hour continuous food and fund drive, with all proceeds providing meals to the food insecure this Thanksgiving. You can get involved by donating food or funds or volunteering at one of the locations.

Norfolk

Friday – Saturday | Annie | Chrysler Hall
The world’s best-loved musical returns in time-honored form. Directed by original lyricist and director Martin Charnin and choreographed by Liza Gennaro, this production of Annie will be a brand new incarnation of the iconic original.

The evening begins with your host leading a vocal warm-up before they show you how to use your free magic moments fun packs. You’ll even get a chance to learn how to hand jive. 8 p.m. | The Stage that Launched an Icon: Ella Fitzgerald and the Apollo Theater | Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center
On the evening of November 21st, 1934, a young dancer headed to Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater. Finding herself onstage as a result of pure chance, the aspiring dancer decided to sing instead. This is the story of Ella Fitzgerald.

It deals with Superman and his “fight to the death” with Doomsday. Rachmaninoff’s “Isle of the Dead” was inspired by a painting of a boat rowing the dead to their final resting place.
