All race proceeds benefit the Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia’s 350 student musicians from all over Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina. The BYOV Run for the Arts 5K Presented By Técnico Corporation will feature live orchestra music performed throughout the race course by many of our students and artistic partners.

Portsmouth students K-12 and their parents are encouraged to attend the event for a day filled of fun activities, games, food and motivational speakers. Parents will have the opportunity to attend School Readiness Workshops. The workshop allows parents to learn how they can play an active role in homework and studying throughout the year.

Surfers Healing was founded by Israel and Danielle Paskowitz. Their son, Isaiah, was diagnosed with autism at age three. The 5K associated with this event raises money for both the Surfer’s Healing foundation as well as the Autism Society, Tidewater Virginia.
