Billy Joel to play at Farm Bureau Live in June

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Mayor Will Sessoms announced at a news conference in January that Billy Joel will perform at Farm Bureau Live June 6.

In November, the six-time Grammy Award winner received the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The prize honors living musical artists’ lifetime achievement in promoting the genre of song as a vehicle of cultural understanding, entertaining, informing and inspiring new generations. Joel has sold more than 150 million records over the past quarter century.

“I’ve been a fan of Billy Joel’s music since the 1970s, when he was both the Piano Man and The Stranger,” said Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms in a press release. “I’m thrilled he’s coming back to Virginia Beach this year, for the first time since 2008. For fans of rock ‘n’ roll, it doesn’t get any better than this.”

Joel is part of the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
