Now that the weather is heating up in Hampton Roads we can enjoy our beaches right here at home and explore the rest of the world. I just returned from Europe and want to share four cities that I think you’ll love. The best news is Europe is just an overnight flight, you can make it a long weekend trip and rates are the best they’ve been in years! Now, who is ready to go?
London: You’ll love this beautiful city of story book castles, beautiful towers and yes, iconic red phone booths! With it’s numerous trendy neighborhoods, incredible theatre district, centuries old museums and destination shopping capital, also known as Harrod’s, London is a must! This was my second trip here in the past five years and even though I spent the majority of my 10 day European vacation in the U.K. and I’m already looking forward to returning. There’s so much to do in London. I love it!
Copenhagen: You’ll love it because it’s filled with surprises! The first and biggest was figuring out that our US dollar goes a little further in Denmark than most countries in Europe. The second was discovering how much better a chocolate Danish tastes in Denmark. However, the best surprise was being completely mesmerized by Tivoli Gardens the world’s second oldest amusement park, built in 1851. This is the park that is said to have inspired Disneyland. It is absolutely enchanting!
Bruges: You’ll love this medieval city in Belgium for its picturesque canals with swimming swans but what you’ll love more than the scenery is the chocolate and beer in Bruges (not to mention waffles and mussels). Around every corner in every Square in this city you’ll find a Chocolatier and a pub. Go ahead and enjoy them both.
Paris: You’ll love everything! Well at least I do. I love the food, museums, fashion, wine, history, art, music and even the people watching in Paris is especially entertaining. The City of Lights is part beautiful old world and part uptown high fashion there is something for everyone and something to do every hour of the day. Paris is always a good idea. I’ve been to Paris twice in the last five years and I’m coming back as soon as I can. It’s my favorite city in the world!
