Fourth of July Events for All

The season of cookouts, fireworks and good company is upon us! For military and civilians alike, the fourth of July is a holiday of patriotism and remembrance.

Hampton Roads never fails to amaze with its bountiful pyrotechnic shows this time of year. Don’t have any plans? Look no further, as hrScene has come to the rescue with the top events you don’t want to miss. Before it’s too late, remember you can submit your event on the hrScene calendar!

Chesapeake

10 a.m. | Fourth of July Celebration | 1441 Bainbridge Blvd
The event features a parade, entertainment, food, games, paddle boat rides, childrens crafts and family fun! Event is FREE to the public.

Tuesday 9 p.m. | Celebrate Freedom Concert & Fireworks | 900 City Park Drive
Honor our nation’s birthday with a concert from the U. S. Fleet Forces Band and a fireworks finale! Parks, Recreation and Tourism also brings you the best in children’s activities and family entertainment: face painting, a 3-years-and-under play area, giant lawn games, inflatables and more. FREE admission; however a $5 fee for on-site parking will help them continue this great family event! Bring lawn chairs and/or blanket (no pop-up tents permitted). Food vendors will be on site.

Eastern Shore

10 p.m. | Annual Chincoteague Old Fashioned Fireworks Display | Chincoteague Carnival Grounds
Celebrate the birth of our nation! This show is sponsored by the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, the Town of Chincoteague and the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce.

Gloucester 

9:15 p.m. | Beach Day and Fireworks | Gloucester Point Beach Park
Free event! Concession stand, swimming, fishing, boating and more outdoor activities. Fireworks will display at 9:15 p.m. from Yorktown.

Hampton 

10 a.m. | Fourth at the Fort | East Gate
Family fun activities will be offered in the Wherry Quarter of Fort Monroe. Added to their usual popular attractions and special events this year, Pyrotecnico of New Castle, PA will present an aerial fireworks display at 9:15 pm on Mill Creek to complete the day.

Newport News

10 a.m. | Hilton Fourth of July Parade | Hilton Village Residence
Each year Hilton Village hosts an annual 4th of July parade. Join the community to celebrate America’s independence!

7 p.m.| Stars in the Sky | Victory Landing Park
This event features free giveaways, internationally award winning firework show, children’s inflatables and plenty of food vendors! Live music will be provided by the Tidewater Drive Band.

Norfolk

5 p.m. | Great American Picnic and Fireworks | Town Point Park, Downtown Norfolk Waterfront
Leave the grilling to someone else on the 4th of July! Guests can buy traditional all American fare, including hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue, seafood, buttered corn on the cob, juicy watermelon, lemonade… and much more! Relax on the lawn and enjoy the live entertainment, then watch as the sky lights up with the fireworks display at 9:30 pm!

Lunch & Dinner | 4th of July Lunch and Dinner Cruise | 109 E Main Street
Reserve your spot on a July 4th lunch or dinner cruise while you can! Tickets for the lunch cruise are $44.90 and the dinner cruise is $79.90. Sail through lunch with friends and family on the day of the Fourth or enjoy a firework display during dinnertime on the water.

7:30 p.m. | American Rover Fireworks Cruise | 333 Waterside Drive
Trying to find the right Fourth cruise? Here’s another one! Kids’ tickets are $35 and adults are $55. Don’t pass up this fun festive Fourth favorite. Listen to music and grab a drink from the bar to unwind and soak up the best firework view from the boat.

Outer Banks

3 p.m. | 26th Annual Festival of Fireworks | Historic Corolla Park
What better way to celebrate America’s independence than with free live music and a spectacular fireworks show on the northern Outer Banks! The 26th Annual Independence Day Celebration in Corolla offers an afternoon of fun family activities. The event features food vendors, a cornhole tournament, watermelon eating contest, and children’s games. Admission and parking are free; event starts at 3:00 p.m. with children’s games, activities, and food vendors, music starts at 3:00 pm with a fireworks display at dusk.

Suffolk

June 30 at 12 p.m. | Pre-Fourth of July Cookout | Morgan Memorial Library
Celebrate your 4th of July early with Suffolk Public Library! Bring your friends and family out to this FREE event for food, fun and festivities. The library is also collecting donations at this event to support ForKids, a local organization.

5:30 p.m. | Stars and Stripes Spectacular| Constant’s Wharf Park
The park will open at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment, children’s activities, local merchandise vendors and food choices available. The firework show will begin at 9 p.m., for the whole family to enjoy! Music will be provided and the Children’s Area is only $5 (kids 12 and under). There will be free shuttles from the First Baptist Church, Godwin Courts, and City Hall parking lots beginning at 5:15 p.m.

Virginia Beach 

9:30 a.m.| Wareing’s Gym 4th of July Workout | Wareing’s Gym
Before all the hot dogs, hamburgers and fireworks, join Wareing’s on the 4th for a FREE workout! The gym will be accepting donations for the Virginia Beach Police Foundation to help support the brave men and women who protect our community.

4 p.m. | July 4th Celebration | Mt. Trashmore
Celebration with your friends and family at our annual July 4th Celebration at Mount Trashmore Park! Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm. Admission is free and open to the public; limited on site parking is $10. Food and drinks available for purchase.

8 p.m.| Stars & Stripes Explosion | 1701 Atlantic Avenue
From 8 p.m.-9:30 p.m., a stage erected right on the beach at 24th Street becomes the focal point for performances featuring military bands. The show segues into a spectacular fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. that explodes over the ocean in a burst of patriotic colors and patterns! All events are free and open to the public.

Williamsburg

10 a.m. | 4th of July Car Show| Shorty’s Diner
Classic cruisers Car Club 4th of July show. Free for spectators and all proceeds will go to CHKD!

9 a.m. to 10 p.m.| Colonial Williamsburg July 4 Celebration |  Duke of Gloucester Street
Colonial Williamsburg will host multiple events to celebrate Independence Day including a reading of the Declaration of Independence, live music, activities and more. Some events are ticketed. The U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band performs a free show 4-6 p.m. on the lawn of the Art Museums, followed by Brasswind 7-9 p.m. “Lights of Freedom: A Fourth of July Procession and Fireworks” begins at 9 p.m., with a 20-minute fireworks show set to an 18th-century score near the Governor’s Palace.

Tues.-Thurs. 9:30 p.m. | Busch Gardens 4th of July Fireworks | 1 Busch Gardens Blvd.
Fireworks show included with admission. Busch Gardens Williamsburg will commemorate Independence Day with spectacular fireworks shows July 3 – 5. After a day of fun at the park, guests can watch the night sky light up with colorful pyrotechnic displays at 9:30 pm on each of those dates.

Yorktown

8 a.m. | Yorktown Independence Day Celebration| Main Street
Independence Day in Yorktown is a free family-friendly celebration featuring a full lineup of events leading up to the big fireworks finale! The morning starts with a Yorktown Independence Day 8K run and 5K walk at York High School followed by a patriotic parade along Water and Main Streets.
