It was just at the end of December when Josh Coplon and Justin Bellcheck announced a plan to hold a music festival in Suffolk – a Hampton Roads’ version of FireFly or Bonnoroo. This Saturday that plan comes to fruition as the inaugural LAVA Music Festival takes over the Suffolk Executive Airport. Ten bands from here and afar will take residency on two stages for a day to remember. The festival kicks off at 12:10 p.m. with local band Wyteshayds featuring drummer Josh Whittle (Over The Ocean) bassist Jacki Paolella (DJP and MrT) and guitarist/vocalist Brett Helke (Black Blinds) with Major and The Monbacks following and will end with headliner Fitz and The Tantrums at 9:15 p.m. The bands will perform at staggered times between the two stages which means no overlapping performances, so you can witness the awesomeness of each of the performers. Tickets are available now at www.lavafestival.com and will be available at the gate. Gates open at 12p and it is an all-ages event and kids 12 and under are FREE! That’s right, FREE!! I’ll be there with my two kids and I’ll be posting pics and video on my twitter, so follow me if you can’t make it.
